Have compassion. Make a difference.

"And of some have compassion, making a difference:" - Jude 1:22

While we were discussing tonight's church service, my daughter said, "Every member of our church could have more compassion & be less critical of each other." Her comment snagged my attention. What did criticism have to do with compassion? After all, the preacher was sharing the need to be compassionate to the lost world in an effort to show God's power & love. He was not speaking of Christians' relationship to each other … or was he?
Sympathy for the lost is always readily available as far as I am concerned. But, I have a confession: it is a tender spirit toward my fellow Christians that sometimes … well, oftentimes depending on the person … escapes me. Maybe I expect more from believers, which is certainly understandable. Then again, I wonder what my fellow Christians expect to see in me. It is a humbling thought when taken in conjunction with my daughter's statement. Compassion not criticism. Concern, patience & love not indifference, frustration & loathing. It is a tough lesson to perfect. Yet, there is hope. Galatians 6:10 "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
So, my goal for the week: Exercise compassion unto all men, particularly fellow Christians. I'll let y'all know what happens. *smile*

The First Post

As this is my first post, I must warn you ("you" referring to any and all readers who may happen to stumble across this blog either due to personal acquaintance or some quirky coincidence). My interests include sewing, reading, cooking & other typical feminine diversions. I am intelligent, passionate, tenacious, & opinionated, particularly in the areas of politics, religion, parenting & stupidity. If you are looking for political correctness, you will not find it here. If you can handle that … then by all means, visit me occasionally. Oh, before I forget … I make no promises concerning regular posting as I am easily distracted. This blog could self-destruct at any time. So, let's see where this goes, shall we?
